The focus of this album was to delve into the wide variety of music sub-genres that are included under the umbrella term ‘South African Jazz’. All of the composers on this album wrote songs that made use of musical genres such as the Samba, Funk-Soul, Mbaqanga and Ghoema. The musicians who were selected to record these backtracks all have substantial experience in playing these specific songs over several decades with the original composers themselves in some cases. These musicians include:

Shaun Johannes – Electric Bass, Upright Bass and Piano/Keyboards
